1998
As an avid sportsman training and hunting with bird dogs, Dave TerHaar was in and out of his truck cap many times a day, Wondering why he had to fumble with a second set of keys for his cap, the idea of the cap lock being tied to the power truck locks and key fob seemed like the best solution. That didn’t exist, so Dave went to work designing and prototyping the solution.
1999
DT Design was founded on that initial prototype, a manufacturing partner was found and a patent was applied for. The early years found Dave picking up freight at the freight dock on a car hauler, and packing shipments in a unheated pole barn while figuring out business systems and international sourcing.

DT Design partners with LEER to provide power locking handles for their premium caps and tonneaus

2nd generation power locking handle patent applied for

The multi directional pull joystick rotary latch and tonneau cover specific 4 bar hinge are patented

A new powered locking handle is developed.

DT Design purchased and remodeled a Warehouse

DT Design was rebranded to Load n Lock and a 3rd generation power locking handle is patented

Trip to China strengthens and forges new supplier partnerships.
2X growth in domestic OEM business is achieved.
Relationships formed to expand into aftermarket markets.

Added additional quality standards, processes and controls are implements.
